News About the Book!
I am writing to announce that my book, which has the working title of Mets Fan, is finished. I sent the manuscript out this afternoon. It will be published by McFarland, the world’s leading publisher of serious books about baseball. If everything goes as I hope it will, the book will be published this fall, just as the Mets are winning their third World Championship. I want to thank all readers of this blog for their encouragement and their interest. I’ll have news about the book on the blog from time to time. And I expect the blog to become more active in the coming weeks as we get closer and closer to pitchers and catchers. Please check out the final table of contents of the book on my main website, metsfanbook.com. Thank you, everybody. And Lets Go Mets!

Congrats Dana, on the book being finished. From the exerpts that I have read, it looks like a winner. Can’t wait to see it in the bookstores. I am sure all Mets fans will love it.

Hmm.. who should play Dana in the film? I hear Todd Zeile is trying to break into the business. Saw him on TV the other day.

Actually, Subie, when I look at the list of celebrity Mets fans on Wikipedia, the actor listed who could probably do the best job of playing me would be Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He could do the professor pretending to be a regular person thing and he looks and sounds a little bit like me (that is me next to Mr. Met on the metsfanbook.com page). Tim Robbins and Viggo Mortenson don’t look like me (alas) and as much as I like John Leguizamo and Ben Stiller, I don’t think they would be able to pull it off.

It might be his second oscar!

Dana:
Although Philip Seymour Hoffman roots for the Mets, I believe that he is first and foremost a fan of the Baltimore Orioles. His mother is a judge from Rochester, NY, which for many many years was where the Os AAA club played. I’ve seen him at Subway Series games in a Os cap, actually.
