Still Hibernating

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

I’m sorry if things have been slow around here lately.  I’ve been working on another writing project and I really don’t have anything to say about the Mets right now.  I’m sure that will change as we get closer to “Pitchers and Catchers,” so stay tuned.  This barren stretch of the year will be over soon enough.

Special Offseason Sale until Pitchers and Catchers

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Until February 15, you will be able to enjoy a limited time offer:

METS FAN FOR ONLY $22 !!!!!!!!!

What you need to do is this:

Send me a check for $25 ($22 + $3 shipping).  Include a note indicating how you’d like the book inscribed (you can even just give me the name and I’ll write an inscription).  Send the check and note to me at:  Dana Brand, 5 Bradley Lane, Sandy Hook, CT 06482.

This offer will last until Pitchers and Catchers.  I’m making this offer because I know that there are people who would like to have copies of the book but may find the regular price, $29.95 to be a little high (even though it is so much less than what you’d pay to go to a game, still, I understand, books are normally cheaper than this but I had no control over the price).  Since Mets Fan sold amazingly well during the holiday season at full price, I can’t let this offer run longer than until February 15.  But if you’d like to take advantage of the offseason to get a bargain, please send me a check and I’ll get the inscribed book out to you right away.  Please be sure to include your address and phone number on the check.

Special volume discount:  If you’d like to buy 5 copies, I’ll sell them to you for $99.  Just send me a check for $104 ($99 + $5 shipping).

Happy offseason to all of us and let’s hope our patience will be amply rewarded this year.

P.S.  Check out the latest interview with me at John Strubel’s terrific new site, MetsNetwork.

P.P.S.  Please join me at 8 pm on Tuesday, January 8 for a live chat at The Happy Recap.

Happy Recaps

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

I want to apologize to my regular readers for taking an unprecendented two weeks off from blogging.  This is the busiest time of year for me, grading papers and exams at the end of the semester, and then there were some holiday excursions.  In the next few days, I will try to offer my own take on the past year and the next one.

Before returning to real blogging, I want to let readers of this blog know about two upcoming events that may be of interest to them.  First of all, Gotham Baseball Live is having a Dana Brand Retrospective.  I’m not kidding.  As they describe it: We look back at Dana Brand, author of Mets Fan, and his best from 2007. Included are Dana’s perspective on the Subway Series, Ralph Kiner Night, Gil Hodges, and the 1 hour feature interview during the release of his book.”  This is a podcast containing interviews of me broadcast on New York Baseball Live (now Gotham Baseball Live) with Mike Silva.  So, if you’re curious about my take on some of the more sentimental features of the Mets season, or if you’ve gotten my book for Christmas or Hannukah, and want to hear me talking about it, please check this out.  It will be podcast at 7pm on January 1, but you can access it on your computer at any time after that point by clicking on the link.

Also:  I will be the featured guest next Tuesday, January 8 at 8pm at The Happy Recap Hot Stove chat.  This is a great series that the folks at The Happy Recap forum have been running every Tuesday night with guests from the Mets press and blogosphere.  Anybody can come and be part of the live chat interview by going to The Happy Recap and entering the “Live Chat” room at 8 pm on Tuesday.  I hope to “see” a lot of you there.

Anyway, Happy New Year everybody.  It was a year, all right.  And we’re still here.  And so are the Mets.
