I want to apologize to my regular readers for taking an unprecendented two weeks off from blogging. This is the busiest time of year for me, grading papers and exams at the end of the semester, and then there were some holiday excursions. In the next few days, I will try to offer my own take on the past year and the next one.
Before returning to real blogging, I want to let readers of this blog know about two upcoming events that may be of interest to them. First of all, Gotham Baseball Live is having a Dana Brand Retrospective. I’m not kidding. As they describe it: “We look back at Dana Brand, author of Mets Fan, and his best from 2007. Included are Dana’s perspective on the Subway Series, Ralph Kiner Night, Gil Hodges, and the 1 hour feature interview during the release of his book.” This is a podcast containing interviews of me broadcast on New York Baseball Live (now Gotham Baseball Live) with Mike Silva. So, if you’re curious about my take on some of the more sentimental features of the Mets season, or if you’ve gotten my book for Christmas or Hannukah, and want to hear me talking about it, please check this out. It will be podcast at 7pm on January 1, but you can access it on your computer at any time after that point by clicking on the link.
Also: I will be the featured guest next Tuesday, January 8 at 8pm at The Happy Recap Hot Stove chat. This is a great series that the folks at The Happy Recap forum have been running every Tuesday night with guests from the Mets press and blogosphere. Anybody can come and be part of the live chat interview by going to The Happy Recap and entering the “Live Chat” room at 8 pm on Tuesday. I hope to “see” a lot of you there.
Anyway, Happy New Year everybody. It was a year, all right. And we’re still here. And so are the Mets.
