I have a lot of things I want to say about the new signings, but I can’t put up my Tuesday posting this week because I am totally swamped grading papers and exams. I do want to say to regular readers that I will be posting some excellent news soon about my forthcoming book, The Last Days of Shea. You make some very interesting points. And that is very witty about the Heimlich “Manuever.” Congratulations to your f’kn champions and all that. I’d love to see what a World Series Trophy looks like. I happen to like Philadelphia a lot. And I hope that the Mets will redeem themselves next year.

Yes, Dana, I agree with Dino. It was a classy answer. I too, think Philadelphia the city is very nice. I love their pretzels, and they have a storied history.
I think the Mets will redeem themselves this year. It will be the first full
year under Jerry Manuel, and we no longer have Heilman and Schoeneweiss to sabotage us. I am not making any predictions, just that we will give Philly a run for it’s money, and they shouldn’t be so overconfident. Look at Atlanta. They were invincible for many years and then they looked very vulnerable last year. Nothing lasts forever.
Oh Dana, very classy indeed. But, let’s face it, Philly is New York’s little step brother. The inferiority complex of the fans and the players is so blatant it is laughable. Look, these guys were talking about the Mets during their World Series celebration in Philly. Also known as the worst fans in all of sports, they booed Santa Claus for chrissake. Anyway, Happy New Year Philly fan, enjoy your WS trophy, You won’t see another one for another 25+ years.
